On April 30th, a fire started south west of an Alberta city named Fort McMurray. If you seen pictures of it before you would have seen a lush green forested area with blue rivers – almost like you would see in a fairy tale. Now if you look at it you will see a devastated area, like something out of a disaster movie of a nuclear holocaust – with burnt shells of cars, ash, and smoke still hanging in the air. Over **80,000** people left there in terror after a mandatory evacuation order and interviews with the people evacuated show shell-shocked people, people uncertain about what is going to happen now and who just want to go home.

Models Giving Back was approached by one of the people in SL affected by this tragedy and asked us to help raise funds for the Canadian Red Cross, who is instrumental in assisting with those affected by this disaster.
Models Giving Back will be running a two week fashion event from May 15 – May 31 where designers have given a special exclusive release that will only be available at this event, never to be seen again. 50% or 100% of each item will be donated to this cause. We will make one donation 1/2 way through the event to obtain the matching funds the Canadian Government is providing, and then the second donation will be made at the close of the event. We will post all donation receipts here and also on the Models Giving Back Facebook page.
If you are a designer and would like to help – please fill out this form (visit the Red Cross Page Above for Link) and we will send you all the information you need to participate. Set up will need to be completed no later than midnight on May 14th – so a very short window for participation here. Thank you in advance.
If you have any questions, please contact Jamee Sandalwood inworld.
